Udredningen om museernes
Vi lever i et evalueringssamfund. At evaluere handler i bund og grund om at
værdisætte ting. At spørge, hvilken værdi noget har og giver brugerne. Det er
imidlertid ikke alting, der er værd at evaluere, ligesom at der er mange værdi-
fulde ting, som aldrig bliver evalueret.
I Slots- og Kulturstyrelsen er vi overbevist om, at evalueringen af de danske
museers brugere er værdifuld. Værdifuld på nationalt plan for det samlede mu-
seumsvæsen og værdifuld på lokalt plan for det enkelte museum.
Den nationale brugerundersøgelse blev påbegyndt i 2009 og har i år 10-års jubilæ-
um. Den udsprang af Udredningen om museernes formidling (2006), hvor repræsen-
tanter fra museerne anbefalede landsdækkende, sammenlignelige publikumsunder-
søgelser med henblik på at styrke museernes brugerkendskab.
I dag er brugerundersøgelsen et strategisk og praksisrelateret redskab, som under-
støtter museernes faglige udvikling. Den giver et godt indblik i, hvem museumsbru-
gerne er, hvordan de vurderer deres museumsbesøg, og hvad der motiverer dem.
Den viden skal vi bruge til noget. For den muliggør udviklingen af målrettede
formidlingsinitiativer for det enkelte museum. Den muliggør sammenligning på
tværs af museumssektoren. Og den muliggør en unik, historisk forståelse af det
danske museumsvæsens udvikling i relation til vores samfund. For museerne
er brugerundersøgelsen et ledelsesværktøj til at sikre, at museet når de bruger-
grupper, de ønsker med deres udstillinger.
